Practical, Flexible Solutions: Feminine Hygiene Disposal Scotland
At Wilson Washrooms we offer a practical and flexible solution to our clients to ensure you remain fully compliant with current legislation by offering an extensive range of modern, fashionable and sleek looking slim line disposal units designed to fit into the toilet cubicle.
All our standard units are ‘hands free’ units and operated by a foot pedal mechanism.
However, we can also supply fully automatic battery operated units should these be required. All our units are available in a range of finishes, white, grey or black/chrome.
During each maintenance visit our professional team will service the unit onsite, in the privacy of the washroom.
Sanitary Disposal Unit Features
Each unit contains a unique liner impregnated with anti-microbial properties to inhibit microbial growth and prevent odours, the liner is changed on every service visit and the units are thoroughly sanitised using an anti-bacterial sanitiser.
Each lid contains a modesty flap to prevent odour and visibility of the contents. All waste is removed from the premises in a modesty bag by our smartly dressed operatives.
Audit Trail for our visits
Services will be provided by the same service operative to avoid disturbing staff by asking where the washrooms are located. At every visit we digitally capture the client’s signature on an iPad which then instantly emails the client with a service record and waste transfer document on completion of the service.
Tailored Service
Normal service is provided on a monthly basis 12 x per annum but may be offered more frequently or infrequently dependent on your needs.
Value for Money
We do not have the overheads of a larger organisation therefore this is reflected in the price of our services. You may be very pleasantly surprised.

Your Questions Answered: Feminine Hygiene Disposal Scotland
We have answered some of the most common questions people ask about feminine hygiene disposal. Please also visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information on our products and services.
Is feminine hygiene waste hazardous?
While feminine hygiene waste is unpleasant, in the UK it is classed as offensive waste rather than hazardous waste.
The bacteria in offensive waste may pose problems to human health if not dealt with correctly, which is why we adhere to legislation regarding feminine hygiene disposal services.
How do I dispose of used sanitary products?
Recent legal, health and environmental information has shown how used sanitary products that were flushed down the toilet cause pollution. Overflowing, or unavailable, bins in public toilets further exacerbates the problem. The best option is to use a sanitary bin which is specifically designed for the disposal of used sanitary products; this is also required by law for UK businesses under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.
At home, used sanitary products should go in the general waste bin. Never flush them down the toilet.
What do I do if there is no sanitary bin in my workplace toilet?
As stated, it is a legal requirement to have sanitary waste bins in all workplace washrooms.
Speak to your employer or facilities manager to install sanitary bins as a matter of urgency or they may face a fine.
You should use a general waste bin until the correct facilities are available, ensuring the used products are wrapped for discretion.
What happens to feminine hygiene waste?
Feminine hygiene waste typically undergoes a specialised disposal process. The waste is collected in secure, sealed containers and transported to a designated facility for treatment and disposal, usually incineration or landfill.
Proper disposal ensures that feminine hygiene waste is handled in an environmentally responsible and sanitary manner, reducing potential health risks and environmental impacts. Wilson Washroom Services’ Duty of Care Certificate assures our clients we are a responsible company and comply with the legal requirements of disposal.
